A skill detail page is the start of a review. It can tell you where instructions came from and how the author expects them to be used. It cannot establish that every script is appropriate for your workspace.
Follow the exact version
Prefer a source link that identifies a commit or release. A repository’s default branch may change after a guide was written. Open the skill file and the scripts or references it actually invokes. Record the version used for your evaluation so that another person can reproduce your review.
A working source link proves that a page is available. It does not prove that installation succeeded or that a sample output was generated by this version. Keep those observations separate.
Check the scope of the license
Look for terms covering the actual files you intend to use. A repository-level license may coexist with different terms for a subdirectory, model, asset or dependency. Publicly readable code is not automatically licensed for redistribution or resale. If the terms are missing, do not infer permission from a download button.
The Documents & knowledge collection illustrates this distinction: references retain their individual terms, and a Notion workflow also needs an authorized workspace. The collection itself does not grant rights over those resources.
Match prerequisites to your environment
- Which runtime or application is needed?
- Does it need a network service, paid subscription or connected account?
- Which files may it read or modify?
- Does it send selected data to an external service?
Start with a small non-sensitive task and an isolated copy of your project. Read any commands before running them. Keep account access and installation decisions separate from discovering a listing.
Interpret evidence precisely
Source review means someone read the source. Static scanning means a scanner inspected an artifact under its own rules. A recorded runtime test means a particular task was exercised in a stated environment. None is a substitute for the other two. An absent report is unknown, rather than a successful check.

If the listing meets your requirements, follow the original setup guide and inspect the result yourself. If a prerequisite or permission is unclear, pause that installation and choose another reference. You can explore by task in the skill directory without committing to an installation.
